FREITAG makes bags and accessories from used and, increasingly, circular materials. We think and act in cycles. What began in Zurich in 1993 with messenger bags made from discarded truck tarps now comprises some 60 models. FREITAG products are robust, functional everyday companions which can expect an long, fulfilling life.

Susan created the first design and prototype in 2000. Her mission was to replace the single-use plastic bag and reduce the waste involved with its use. Taking the classic shape of the plastic bag as a starting point, Susan made it even more functional by making the side creases deeper, therefore adding volume.

Something beautiful and meaningful happens when makers who face barriers to the labour market collaborate with designers. The beautiful and valuable products that emerge from these collaborations are brought together under the name Social label.
